Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the GEU Sevens competition for 2020. The competition commenced on the 28th of October 2020. There was a break on the 4th November due to Team Trips. The League Competition concluded on the night of the 16th December. 

The top and bottom halves of the League then split to play in 3 match Group Competitions ( Glen and Eden Groups).
The Knockout  competition started on the 24th February 2021 and extended for three weeks and one lockdown week to Finals Nights on the 17th March.

Finals night provided a rich fiesta of football.  Congratulations therefore to;

Barney's Army who beat BallsyFC 5-0 to claim the Cup
The Tufty Club who just managed to secure a 3-2 win against the Gnarly Bastards to win the Shield.
Remnants who won convincingly against the Jokers 8-2 to win the Plate
Fukawe who worked hard to win 5-3 and the Bowl against The Who

Presentations were held after the final game of the evening and awards went to;

The Tufty Club for winning the league section of the competition.

Individual awards made included; 

Mikey of Barney's Army who won the Stephen Key Memorial Trophy having scored 29 goals in all competitions. Thank you Charlie for your words in remembrance of Stephen Key  

Eddie of BallsyFC and Tony of the Gnarly Bastards who shared the goalkeeper of the competition award.

Steve of the Jokers who won the Fairplay award

Ben of Fukawe for winning the Player of the Competition award.

A great evening followed with an awesome seafeed provided by Snapper Kev of Fukawe.

The Auckland Council playing field contractors who provided a well mown, well marked pitch every week. Singer Park has never looked so good.

Scorers
Top scorer in all three competitions will be awarded the Stephen Keys Memorial Trophy. Stephen was a West Auckland footballer who played in the tournament for Glen Eden United and other clubs over many years.
